Air India Resume Booking for Domestic Flights

Air India has come up with some good news! Now the passengers can book for domestic flights from today. After a 60 days gap, Air India is ready to fly again from 25 May.

The airlines will fly a total of 8,428 flights each week till 25 August as the government has given the green flag to restart domestic flights. Air India tweeted, “Our Domestic Flight Bookings will start from 1230 hrs today. To book, log in to Air India or contact authorized travel agents or visit our booking offices or call customer care.”

Even many private airlines have also announced the resumption of domestic air ticket reservations. IndiGo, Vistara, and SpiceJet have started accepting air ticket reservations. IndiGo stated on its official website, “As per the recent govt, directive, we will resume operations of some domestic flights from 25 May. We are in the process of opening the same for travel between 25th and 31st May 2020.”

Vistara Airlines backed into the action and tweeted, “We geared up to take to the skies again. Are you? Bookings are now open.”

After a period of 60 days, India is set to reopen air travel. The Indian government has permitted one-third of total domestic flights into the operations from 25 May. The Indian authorities have also set limits on air ticket fares, which will be applicable until 25 August.

The air ticket fares will be confined as per seven sector classes divided as per flight times. As per new air ticket reservations fare regulations, the lowest domestic flight ticket in India will be around USD26, while the highest airfare will be near about USD240.

Vistara airlines welcomed the government’s new move to resume domestic flights. Leslie Thng, CEO of Vistara, said, “Aviation is a growth engine for the economy, and resumption of air travel will give great impetus to the government’s overall efforts in helping the country eventually return to normalcy.”

However, flying would not be the same as before; specific guidelines have been issued that will change the passengers’ flying experience. Following are the instructions that need to be followed during flight operations and at the airport:

  • Airlines are not permitted to serve the meal on board.
  • Every passenger has to wear a face mask, protective gear, and carry a sanitizer bottle.
  • Full protective gear will be mandatory to wear for cabin crew. One check-in bag will be permitted.
  • The passengers should report at least two hours before the scheduled departure time of the flight.
