Stopping to Smell The Roses

Stopping to Smell The Roses

Too many women feel guilty for wanting more time for themselves. They feel guilty that they shouldn’t be working and being concerned about the family, but that is not true! You don’t need to be a full-time parent to take a bit of time out. Even just having a few 15 minute breaks from work is a great way to help your mind and body relax and recharge.

 1. Dangers Of Being Too Busy

Doctors say being too busy in life can lead to serious health issues and we all have to know. One doctor in particular, Dr. Ellen W. Cutler, says that too much activity can disrupt the body’s natural rhythm and cause problems like weight gain and insomnia. But then again, symptoms began to show early. “It starts out with irritability, moodiness, anxiety, and eventually it shows up as depression, stress, and tension,” she explained.

Another doctor, Dr. Patricia G. Morgan, a professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine says being too busy is like an addiction. She says that if we feel like we can’t stop for a while then it causes stress and frustration. We then do everything we can to finish what we are doing and this causes more problems such as weight gain and insomnia. She says that being productive is the key to living a happy, healthy, and successful life.

The dangers of being too busy include insomnia, stress, anxiety, lack of social interaction, and poor physical health. We also feel disconnected from others and from the world around us, and some experts believe that too much time spent in front of a computer screen can lead to mental disorders, such as depression and anxiety.

Grind culture has been romanticized so many people are always busy and hustling and while it’s not a bad thing, it can be if you never take a break. Slowing down and focusing on self-care is vital for your health. Recreation and relaxing is important for self-care. A great way to achieve better sleep is to invest in blackout curtains (they block out light, insulate the room, and can lower your NJ Power costs).

2. Benefits Of Slowing Down

If you have never tried slowing down before then you are missing out on the benefits of slowing down your life. There is so much time wasted in today’s society when people go from activity to activity in life, and they don’t even spend a fraction of the time they could be spending doing things that will improve their quality of life. A lot of benefits of slowing down your life can be had if people just took the time to stop for a second and really think about what they are doing. It is amazing how much better people feel once they stop moping around and spend a couple minutes to themselves.

Another huge benefit of slowing down your life is that it will increase your overall happiness. Happiness is a state of mind and if you are happy then you are more productive and happier with your life. Many people are unhappy because they are stuck inside a rut and don’t have any creativity or time to do anything. These people need to slow down and take a minute and figure out what they want to do and how they are going to get it done. Once they know what they want to do and how to get it done they are more satisfied with their lives and are happier overall.

 3. Self Care Tips

Self care is taking a personal moment, but just what is it? It can mean giving yourself a massage, spending 30 minutes alone in a room with your thoughts, or simply putting your kids to bed. It is all about balancing your self-care with the other aspects of your life that are important to you. So where do we find self care tips? What are some ways in which you can give yourself a day off?

The first step is understanding that you do have to give yourself a break from time to time. It is a fact of life that we all need a little down time and that self care goes along with that. Give yourself a break when you feel unwell and try to see things objectively. There is nothing wrong with wanting to take a nap or spend a few hours in quiet reflection – you just need to be realistic about how that will affect your quality of life.

How can you best take that break? Consider doing something you’ve always wanted to do, but never had the time or energy to do. Take a course in a new field that interests you. Or try taking up a hobby you always longed to pursue but never got round doing. There are plenty of ways in which you can give yourself care, and they don’t necessarily have to be something physical.

Another self care tip is to start your day off better than you normally would. If you wake up feeling grumpy and hung-over, take a bit of time to drink a cup of tea or put a good cream on your face. It’s amazing how much a nice warm shower can do for your spirits! You could even set yourself a routine where you get up and do some exercise early in the morning. Regular exercise boosts your energy levels, so you’ll feel fitter and less sluggish throughout the day. Set yourself a regular system and stick to it, and you’ll find it easier to live a happy, fulfilling life.

Follow these tips for self care, and you’ll feel better than you ever have before.
